The Fugees Reschedule World Tour
First, Adele had to postpone her string of sold-out shows in Las Vegas, Nevada, and now the Fugees are scuttling their reunion tour due to the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The legendary hip-hop group – consisting of Lauryn Hill, Pras Michel and Wyclef Jean – first announced their plans for a global tour in October last year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their highly successful 1996 album, “The Score”.
Then came the announcement that the tour would be rescheduled for 2022 as COVID-19 measures were making the trio’s performance and travelling plans complicated. They even added more cities and dates so that they could perform “for as many fans as possible.”
However, on Friday, 21 January, they posted the unfortunate news across their social media accounts that the tour had been cancelled altogether.
The statement said: “We anticipate and understand disappointment but our anniversary tour will not be able to happen.”
It did finish on an optimistic note: “If opportunity, public safety, and scheduling allow, we hope to be able to revisit this again sometime soon. THANK YOU [sic] for all your love and support throughout the years.”
Many fans were hyped up to see their “dream concert”, but the general consensus was that they “saw it coming.”
